This year’s topic is urban heat islands and will give students the opportunity to work with satellite datasets to develop machine learning (ML) models to forecast temperatures at microscales across a city.

The challenge has two phases. In Phase 1, participants will develop the machine learning and AI models, and in Phase 2, finalists will develop a practical “business plan” for local beneficiaries. The challenge platform provides learning resource links and all participants who successfully complete the challenge will receive an EY certificate of achievement. Top finalists will receive a cash prize and invitation to attend the EY global awards ceremony.
