Get Ready for Fall 2018!

July 10, 2018

The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts is almost upon us, meaning the summer break is more than half over.  Here in the Engineering Career Resources & Employer Relations office, we are starting to think about and prepare for the fall recruiting season. There are many things engineering students can also be doing now to get ready for a successful internship, co-op, or full-time entry-level job search this fall.

Shop for interview attire. If you don’t have an interview outfit, this is a good time to get one.  There are a large number of recruiting events and activities already scheduled as early as late August, so make sure you have something appropriate to wear in case you are invited to interview for an internship, co-op, or full-time position.  Not sure what to wear?  We provide general information about what to wear.  Check out our Pinterest pages for photos of business professional attire.

Plan for the end of your internship or co-op. If you’ve been working at an internship or co-op this summer, start to plan for your last day at your workplace:

  1. Finish your assignments if possible.
  2. Get feedback from your supervisor on your performance.
  3. Connect with your co-workers on LinkedIn to maintain your professional network.

Complete academic requirements. If you are seeking academic credit for the experience, complete your requirements by the requested deadlines.

Keep your credentials current. Update your résumé and LinkedIn profile with any new experiences you have had during the summer.

Stay up-to-date. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to make sure you don’t miss hearing about recruiting events and activities.
