Job Search Resources

There are a variety of job search resources available to graduate students seeking industry jobs.

eCareer

eCareer is a free online job search system that undergraduate and graduate students in the Colleges of Engineering and Earth and Mineral Sciences—as well as alumni from these colleges—can use to search for engineering internship and full-time jobs.

You must register for an eCareer account and upload your résumé for approval before you can apply for jobs. You can also upload a cover letter and/or transcript (if requested by an employer) and you can use eCareer to schedule interviews for on-campus recruiting.

Nittany Lion Career Network (NLCN)

Nittany Lion Career Network (NLCN) is an online job search resource available to all students in all majors at Penn State through the University-wide Career Services office. Most of the positions listed in NLCN are entry-level full-time positions.

NLCN offers standard services similar to those available in eCareer, including the ability to view job postings and apply to jobs. It also offers an on-campus interviewing feature for students who are getting ready to graduate and LionLink, a networking program that links Penn State students with alumni volunteer career coaches.

For more information about NLCN, see the Career Services website.

Graduate Career Envoys

If you have questions about what it’s like to do an internship or if you need help with a résumé or cover letter, the Graduate Career Envoys can help.

Envoys have each completed at least one internship or co-op experience.  They can provide general advice, answer questions about the graduate student job search, and offer help with the eCareer job search system.

Career Events

Penn State offers a wide variety of career events at the University Park campus each year, including events aimed specifically at graduate students. These events provide opportunities for you to discover companies and organizations that are hiring Penn State students, make personal connections with recruiters, and learn about topics related to professionalism and the workplace.

Social Media

As you are searching for industry internships or full-time jobs after graduation, leverage social media sites to learn about employers and jobs and make connections with recruiters, Penn State engineering alumni, and other engineering professionals.
