NETWork Virtual Engineering Fair

October 6, 2021
1:00–5:00 p.m. (ET)
via Brazen Careers

At this virtual event, all undergraduate and graduate engineering students from all Penn State campuses are invited to network and make connections with employers representing a wide variety of companies and organizations. There is no fee for students to participate.

Suggested Attire

Business professional attire is recommended. Since the event is virtual, what you wear above the waist is more important than what you wear below.

Tips for Success

  • Ensure that you know how to use Brazen Careers before the event.
  • Find out which employers plan to participate.  Research employers of interest using their websites and/or social media channels.
  • Position yourself in front of a plain, non-distracting background (a blank wall is best). If you use a virtual background, choose something simple and professional.
  • Leave your video camera on throughout your time at the event.
  • Prepare and practice a 30-second introduction—also known as an elevator pitch—including your name, professional interests and goals, and reasons for interest in the particular employer. Maintain eye contact and remember to smile!
  • Answer employer questions to the best of your ability. Don't ramble.
  • Ask questions about the company or organization to indicate your interest.
  • Take notes during your discussions. Keep a record of who you talked to and what you talked about.
  • Request contact information after your discussions so you can send thank-you messages to employers from companies or organizations where you’d like to work.
